Luckily the Brits have a few abandoned stores en route so not beyond the realms of possibility of getting hands on a new pair of trousers - in any case they will be bedraggled by the end of the day!
I don't mind the odd bandage or two, I was going to go for a bit of gore myself, but no bandages on the arms please as it will get very confusing with medic'ing rules.
Apparently there were about 150,000 rear echelon types left behind after Dunkirk too. So we'll be representing some logistics unit on a cushy number in some base until it all went pearshaped.
Although Paul does do dishevelled very well indeed so maybe we'll have to revise that back-story on the day.
Well, my RTR battledress is all badged up, tailored and raring to go for this now. It's a nice bonus to be able to wear a beret, although I'll have a Mk2 helmet as well. I'm hoping to use a rifle for the whole game as well and have been tweaking the Enfield in anticipation. Got the Thompson and Sten as well but only as backups in case the Enfield breaks.
When I want your opinion - I'll tell you what it is!
Here're our new recruits as regular infantry.
It's 49 pattern trousers, Australian BD Jackets, plus webbing from Sabre Sales. Helmets are borrowed from us but we have two extra on the way from Sgt Heide.
Badges and tags will be removed prior to the event. We know it's not perfect!
Is that you're Sister Barrie? She's leathal with a gun! (As proven at Haggard)
Yep, they're back. I seem to remember Paul was pretty lethal too, especially to shirkers skulking around on their own under bushes.
He was lethal to the allies too from what I saw. He lit up a yank for not answerig him and then started chatting to me, as I stood there (wounded) in my Fallschirmjager gear. Can't fault them for getting stuck in though.
come on everone likes shooting yanks even yanks do it
theres nowt so Permanent as temporary
No Yanks this time though.
Maybe I should come in my Yank kit!
Then sit in the safe zone watching it unfold on a TV. Waiting for the "turning up just in the nick of time to save the day" sorta routine which americans have nailed down!
Here's my Sunday afternoon effort, as per the picture the Osprey Infantry Tactics book. I am concerned it's slightly comedy, but then I personally think that a helmet with grass sticking out of it is always comedy ! I think I might elave it outside for a few days to get worn in abit. I've sprayed it down with brown paint but it's still a bit shiney for my tastes.
it certainly breaks up the shape.........
There is (I know its not an allied reference) a great German training clip showing camouflaging and its effectiveness (think its available on youtube) with the comment "that bush is not right, it grows the wrong way" at a point in the distance you couldn't possibly tell.
Anyways point of it is you have no leafs upside down, so it can't be as comical as you think
I appreciate that everything authentic looks "cool" to the modern eye, however I don't want to look liks a complete tit the first time I turn up to one of your events
There will be 43 other complete tits at this event so don't fret too much, you will be in good company.

And thats just CW's alternative personalities gawd help us **gulp**

I can see the bottom of some leaves there?!
Besides which, leaves wouldnt naturally occur upside down would they? The whole photosynthesis thing would mean the chlorophil loaded sides would point up?
upside down, not wrong side up webby, and I work with bacteria not folliage though I thoght it was the cells loaded with chlorophyl rather than one side of the leaf plants never was my strong point
I liked Physics at school! hehe
I think there is something to do with 'leaf pores' on the underside of leaves that means they get too much water in them if upside down? Though as you can tell by my use of the phrase 'leaf pores' it has been a long time since my biology lessons...
Well here's my first attempt at wearing my kit for ariel. I don't think I've got he puttees quite right yet.. They are very long and hard to put on! I think I've got one higher than the other there...
